hi my name is ted
I'm from Arizona (phoenix valley metro area)
and I'm an alcoholic... sorry wrong meeting

i recently found out about the Jedi church being real and i knew i had to sign up. but, first i had to read some information, make sure it wasn't just some joke or people stuck in an RP frame of mind unable to coup with real life (I've knew a lot of people like that) and i found out it was the opposite. the information i read was telling me this religion was what i believed in since i was a kid, one all powerful force that controls and guides all living things in the universe, regardless of race, national origin, skin color, or sexual orientation. In my opinion a religion (and the leaders of that religion) should inspire you to love yourself and others around you and to treat yourself and all living things with respect and dignity. religion is very important to me and I've search for one that meets those requirements my whole life. all i found was religions that meet those requirements but the leadership that doesn't. but from what i found in the Jedi faith so far exceeds what i was looking for, for the most part :D (there will always be those who use religion for power). but i truly think that the Jedi faith is well fit for me and I'd love to learn more. joining any religion requires a great deal of study, in the religion itself, the universe around you, and in yourself, to become the best person you can be. so you don't have to worry i love to learn new things :D

okay that was way more deep then i usually am :sSc_shocker: so don't expect that too much :D

and I'll end this with a quote from the best cartoonist the world has never known :D

Hi Ted,

Just to let you know, there are actually two different groups of Jedi out there, to the lay person I'm sure they both look equally nutty (:-) ), however the principle difference is that some follow the Jedi Path as a philosophy and way of life (Jedi Realists) and others follow it as a religion (Jedi Church).

A Jedi Realist models themselves, their behavioiur, studies and principles of service upon the fictional Jedi, they do not tend to embrace such things as dogma, doctrine, or worship; things that are traditionally associated with religion. The Force is a Jedi Realists ally. You will find that Jedi Realists have a respect for, awe of and love of the Force that could be considered similar to that of members of the Jedi Church...the differences are subtle in that respect. I myself am a Jedi Realist,if you couldn't tell, and it would be good to have a member of the religion describe in greater detail what they do, since I tend not to participate in those groups.

Enjoy your time here!

Regards,

Inari

Welcome to the JRC, Ted! Definitely glad you found your way here. As Inari explained, there's a difference between Jedi Realists (people who follow the Jedi path as a way of life) and Jediists *(people who follow the Jedi path as a religion or "church"). The JRC does not subscribe to any one path and rather lets its members choose whichever path they wish to follow. I just want to let you know that this isn't a Jedi Church site, though. We play more a neutral role.

I hope you enjoy your time here and hopefully find some other Jedi in your area! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the JRC. We do take a different approach to Jedi life in the real world and I think you'll like it. Ask questions if you have any, there will always be someone to answer. :sHa_wave:
