View Full Version : Do lightsaber colors mean anything?

This is something that I have been chewing on lately. I belive personaly that the blade color you use does not just stand for what group you are part of or whatever other things it can also affect you yourself. I know this might have something to do with the whole color of hospital rooms debate but as a example when I pick up a blue bladed lightsaber to use in practice I for some reason have a overwhelming urge to knock my oppenent silly with it whil when I use green my body seems to be unwilling to make any attacking moves and will just sit back and wait for my oppenent to give up. While I hope you all get the idea by now I will try one more. Red is a great example. when I pick up red for some strange reason I seem to lose control of my body and get really angry while seeing red basically a version of blood rage and can not be stopped until I get exhausted which thankfully for my oppoents dosen't take long. I have been thinking about this for the last year and have come up with no idea of might be happening :sCo_chinscratch:. Any ideas are helpful

*shrugs* Its just colors to me... I don't see any meaning behind them except that "Hey I like the color Green!" or...so forth... Some people 'can' put representation's behind them...but I think that's more of an Individual preference.
For example: You see Blue as a kind of aggressive, get down to business color.....I see it as a tranquil, fluid, color
You see Red as an Angry, 'Rawr,' darkside... color.....I see it as your version for blue.
So.....It's just a color, and only means whatever you make it to mean to you...personally.

There's no doubt that color can effect mood and emotion, though it's usually a very subtle effect and it may vary slightly from person to person. Zaron, if color effects you very strongly, you may want to work on getting more control over your emotions. I don't think it's good to be so easily controlled by something outside your mind and so far beyond your influence.

jd is right... color does have an effect on some people, if you look into chakra's you'll find that certain colors are thought to open or close the corresponding chakra gate, this is also seen in aura's...it's recommended that if one gate, or aura layer is out of balance you sorround yourself with the appropriate color to either open/increase or close/decrease...
either way it is best that you learn to control your emotional state regardless of the color, a lack of control can lead to your undoing if it occurs at an inopportune time...another trick you might try is that if you know how certain colors affect you take control of when you use them, control the color to control yourself...

two views; one, color will effect the emotionel side allways, and two; the color showes mentel constitution, and open mindedness in a persion its part of charicture; my photonblade would be blue or purple, the highest colores on the mentel preception chart and the open mindedness for defence and observation first, "A good offence is a good Defence".

I definitely agree with Jeremy that color can affect mood and emotion. They even use the color bubble gum pink to calm down violent prisoners and on submarines to help prevent clustrophobia. You can check here (http://www.colormatters.com/body_pink.html) for a sample article on that. I even run different frequencies / colors of energy when I do chakra balancing to do different types of healing depending on what my client needs. For example, certain frequencies / colors of energy are better for scar work, while others are better for rebuilding neuro pathways.
As for lightsaber colors, though, I'm with Kitsu that it's mostly personal preference. I think that colors can be used to represent aspects of the Jedi path, or even their own personality, but I don't believe that the color should affect the wielder that deeply. That would mean that the lightsaber is controlling the Jedi, rather than the other way around.

Ah I see. And just to explain something jdmcowan the color does not control me in the least. I would appricate if you do not assume that and just take the question at face value. Intresting way to see things Kitsu Tails I never thought about it that way. Once again it is just a question nothing more.

I appologize if I misunderstood your intent. I guess the "face value" that I saw came from statements like the following...
(emphasis added)
Red is a great example. when I pick up red for some strange reason I seem to lose control of my body and get really angry while seeing red basically a version of blood rage and can not be stopped until I get exhausted which thankfully for my oppoents dosen't take long.
However, I did consider that you might be using rhetorical exaggeration and thus said, "if color effects you very strongly," not, "since..." My intent was certainly to be helpful, not hurtful. I appologize for my part in this miscommunication.
