For one of our March meetings, we will be working on the "Trial of the Mind" expanding our view of the world and the power of human consciousness. What is the nature of reality? What does it mean to live in a world of infinite possibilities?

We will watch the famed documentary "What the Bleep Do We Know!?". We will learn about Quantum Physicis, spirituality, neurology, and evolutionary thought. Afterwards we will discuss how this knowledge can be applicable to the Jedi path.

good documentary, i watched it last semester in philosophy class...it really makes you think...add to it the recent experiments they've conducted with quantum physics in sweden i think...the discussion afterwards will no doubt be an interesting one...

that's a great idea. I suggest watching THE RABBIT HOLE EDITION of the movie. It has some extra scenes in it. But what it has is the ability to play the scenes randomly. This way it would be up to the quantum randomization of the universe to determine what you see. It plays more toward the principle of the movie.

I would like to suggest this for one of the meetup for the MD chapter. Seeing how Moonshadow reads every single entry that's one here. I think it's safe to say I have done just that right now. Weird how quantum physical principles work huh?

btw can you record your meeting? I would love to see the discussion you have on it.

"What the Bleep" is a nice intro, but I think you guys will find it pretty basic. I never heard of the extended Rabbit Hole edition, though. I would definitely recommend watching "Messages From Water" which is referenced in "What the Bleep." We actually tried some experiments from that one at one of our meet-ups a couple years ago.

i must admit it is rather impressive to meet people that actually know what that movie is....where i live there aren't many people that do

I saw it a while back... some of it was neat and some of it was pure hokum.

They said that the indians couldn't see the boats because they had never seen them before? That they slowly "appeared"? By that logic we'd never be able to see anything new -- places, people, shapes, art, ect. Heck, we'd be blind from birth on after since everything is new then.

I really liked this film the first time I saw it. It will definitely be interesting to see what questions/discussions are raised in my second viewing with other Jedi. I will have to add the "Message from Water" to our list of things to watch. (I have read the book).

As for the not being able to "see," I took that to mean not knowing how to categorize something. The only reason we "see" something is because we relate it to something else we already know. It's why education is so important. A child learns their colors, numbers, object associations. Imagine if you told a kid that the color red is really green and green is really red, then have them cross the street. (Horrible thought, I know) Therefore, when you are faced with something new, you either add it to your storage file of data or you ignore it (--> thus it has implications to social interaction, racism, sexism, etc)

good point....humans use a trick called matrixing, we remember things by arranging them into a recognizable pattern the most common pattern is a face. once we learn other patterns we use them in matrixing as well. so if we see something we've never seen before we try to use a pattern we have seen before ie: calling a plane a great bird, or a ship a cabin on the water...

I dunno... I just say, "Hey, WTF is that thing?". Times were different back then, so who knows.

Sounds like an excellent meeting you have planned. It is good that you can get together as a group. Very fine indeed :)
