I saw this advertised on Facebook and thought it looked kinda neat. Any of the Chicago jedi up for it?

The run would be the morning of July 4th.

That looks like a ton of fun! I might have even traveled up to Chicago to do it if other Jedi were going, but unfortunately I have to work that weekend. :(

It certainly looks interesting. I'll see if others of the Chicago Jedi want to do this.

Could always play hookey. ;)

Unfortunately, I really can't get out of this one because it's one of my required holidays to work and I'm working both days that weekend. Otherwise I'd really be there. :( Maybe I can come if they have it again next year.

We have officially signed up and paid our fees (price rises this Friday). David will be doing the 1-mile kids run, but Begoņa and I will be doing the 5K. We're still trying to decide if we want to stay at a hotel instead of getting up for a 45 minute drive at 6am before a long and active day.

Angelus, you get a count for the rest of the chapter?

I was kinda leaning towards the 10k, but if more people are interested in the 5k I'll do that instead since it will be more fun to run as a group.

I don't think you're likely to see many from our group do it. And I don't think we have many (if any) that could keep up with you. If you're going to run with us, you'll be going pretty slow. We'd love to have you, but I suggest instead you run the 10K. With the half-hour head start, we should be done with the 5K before you reach the end of the 10K and we can cheer you to the finish.

We'll see. It's not a race so much as a matter of having fun and crawling though ick and mud, so I'm not concerned with going fast or slow. :D

All I care about is seeing Mindas covered in mud. That will be quite a sight.

I haven't.... that would be pretty epic! I like that it's not a race and that the focus is on teamwork.

One month after the Chicago area Mud Run Mindas mentioned at the start of this thread is another event at the same location. This time it's a bike/run with two-person teams. Each team member does the same course, but it is split into short segments so that while one is running the other bikes and then they switch back and forth. By the end of the race, each has run about 3 miles and each has biked about 3 miles. And of course, it ends with a mud pit, but the team members must enter together. The web site has some video, but it looks like they had heavy rain the day before and the whole race became a mud run.

I am from Springfield...

That does sound like a blast...

I also saw on facebook the "Warrior Dash" (http://www.warriordash.com/register2010_midwest.php) But I could not get any takers at TOTJO..

This one is at the end of June and I know my wife wouldn't wanna compete...

July 4th weekend I also have to work..

Is the mud run still on? I went to the site and it doesn't have anything listed. I sent them an email... I'm hoping I can still get registered. :(

I recently had to change email addresses and it occurs to me that if they sent out any notice, I wouldn't have gotten it. The original web page said they were accepting registrations through 7/1, but even the direct link to the Chicago run that I had saved is not working. I've dropped them a note too. If it's off I need to get my refund.

If you hear anything before I do, please let me know. I really was looking forward to this event.

The official response is, "This event has been postponed until May 22 of 2011." In other words, it's cancelled and their going to try again next Spring.

I say we look at the Muddy Buddy race on 8/1.
