Hi
So recently I've been on a low point as far as my career is concerned. My job has downsized after about 17 years of working there. I'm now working 16 hours a week as opposed to 40. Anytime there is a drastic change in income/ finances stress levels elevate. I really hate to think of our moods being controlled by money. It is possible for it not to, but a lot of people have a unhealthy relationship with money. All that aside it's also the fact that I don't know what to do with the free time I have. I'm so use to being uber busy the thought of my hours not being filled with things to do actually scares me more.
I could really use some "chicken soup for the soul" (http://www.chickensoup.com/) type stories so I asked my facebook friends who absolutely LOVES their job to share what they do. I loved the responses I got. It gave me great materials to read and it was awesome to see my friends with such a happy place in life. I'm looking for stories of people who love their jobs to inspire me through my job downsizing. So I'm at a point when I'm just hoping to find any form of good news that the world is good because I'm pretty upset at the world for having this happen to me.
I really wanted some company from a friend and was hungry. So I got a friend to go to Hooters (http://www.hooters.com/home.aspx) with me for all you can eat wings. Well that's a lot of wings to go through I had to walk it off.
So I decided to stroll over a few blocks and just walk into the Guitar Center (http://www.guitarcenter.com/). I have no business going in there. I don't play any instrument. It's just a store I haven't been in before. I walked in to find that they are having the store finals to the King of the Blues guitar contest (http://gc.guitarcenter.com/kingoftheblues/). So I stuck around since I do like the blues.
Everyone was doing very well but this one particular young man Dan T. Price (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3qN3l4QzZs)was assisted up on stage by his mom. It turns out that he is blind from a genetic condition that detached his rhetinas and has a highly functional form of Autism called Asperger's Syndrome.
He placed the guitar across his lap and played the most beautiful blues guitar I've ever heard. I started to cry. Not like a baby but I was feeling the vibes for sure.
But watching him perform really put a lot of things into perspective. Here I am feeling sorry for myself because life seemed to be really unfair to me. Here is a young man that can complain about the world being unfair but he takes his lemons and make lemonade. Who can't love a story like that.
So from me getting stories of people who love their jobs to being hungry for Hooters to having to walk off the food to walking into Guitar Center for the first time to find a Blues competition to being there on time to see Dan Price play. I think the Universe was speaking to me. Now if I can only keep my ears and heart open to everything it has to say.
The funny thing about this is that I was just hanging out with my friend Jessica on Monday night and we did Zumba and went back to my place. Jess decided to pop in the dvd THE SECRET (http://http://thesecret.tv/). We watched the whole thing about Law of Attraction. I was relearning everything from it. I think I manifested my circumstance here.
I'm greatful to the universe for suggesting Hooters and pointing me to the right place at the right time.
